The firm recently secured a very favorable outcome during a jury trial in Greene County, Illinois. CWLG represented an insured driver, who was alleged to have run a stop sign and collided with another vehicle, resulting in permanent and disabling injuries to another driver (plaintiff). Plaintiff sought damages in excess of $400,000.00. On behalf of the defense, James Craney argued that there was no evidence of long-term disabling damages. The jury agreed. Following a two-day trial, the jury rendered a verdict for plaintiff in the amount of only $35,000.00. Significantly, the jury also agreed with Craney’s arguments that plaintiff herself was substantially at fault, and assigned 50% of the liability to plaintiff, further reducing the award.
This is the fourth trial (and the third jury trial) that CWLG has completed this year.
